Juanita's Road to Recovery Fund

Hello All!

My name is Juanita Robinson, and I am 24 years old. I have always dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player, and have been working to achieve that goal my entire life.  I’ve been on Sports Center Top 10 plays (No.3), ranked among ESPNs top 100 recruits, and recognized as first team All-American, plus I have a lot more to be thankful for. I received my bachelor’s in Psychology at Mizzou in May 2016, and made history as a student-athlete while I attended. Currently, I play semi-pro basketball in Georgia, and was getting ready to go play basketball overseas.

Something very traumatizing happened to me this weekend, while visiting my family and friends for the Christmas Holidays. I became a victim to the gun violence, in the Southside of Chicago. I was shot FOUR times; in the thigh, glute, and pelvic area right in front of my grandmother’s house, while getting bags out of the trunk on December 24, 2016, Christmas Eve. I was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and the doctors said it could have been fatal if the ambulance came 2 minutes later.

One of the bullets hit a major artery and burst a vein, which caused severe bleeding. It took the doctors between 3-4 hours to stop the bleeding, and another couple of hours to repair the damaged artery. I was finally stabilized and awake December 25, 2016, Christmas Day. I am currently in the hospital recovering, and rehabilitation is pending.

I have not given up on the Lord nor my dreams, and pray that I am able to not only walk again, but also play basketball. It just so happened that I was in the wrong place, at the wrong the time, and I am not blaming anyone but the shooter. Based on my insurance, part of my rehabilitation and ER bills will not be covered. I am asking for everyone’s prayers, and pray that if you are willing and able to contribute, that you please help by making a donation to help pay for my medical care and recovery.

I will keep you guys posted every step on this road to recovery. Thank you for any help and prayers that you can give! I am very thankful and fortunate to have support all over the nation! Please share my story, and help me in my journey to recovery.

Thank you and God Bless!
