Support for the Jourdain Family in Haiti
Donation protected
TJ C. & Zach Mingo—
When I worked in Haiti in 2014 I met the Jourdain family. They were living in a makeshift tent in a tent city outside of downtown Port-au-Prince. Over the years their family has grown and parents Vanessa and Wilguens now have 3 children:
Ruth - 3 years old
David - 6 years old
Jude - 2 years old
Their father Wilguens recently lost his job at a grocery store, and their mother Vanessa has been taking care of the children at home since they have not been able to return to school due to costs. But with outside support they were able to move into a house before the tent city was demolished. However inflation is now at a record high due in a country that has always been a difficult place to live in, and they are struggling.
Today their family needs help with school, housing and food. There is little to no public schooling in Haiti because there is no government funding, and only 30% of all students that are fortunate enough to enroll in a private school make it past 6th grade.
Below is a summary of the expenses we are trying to help cover through, but even a $5 donation would help!
$2,500 - (entire yearly cost of their rent for their house)
$1,500 - (yearly cost of school supplies, books, materials, and uniforms for the 3 children)
$700 - (monthly food and utility expenses for all 5 family members - needed ASAP)
$2,050 - (tuition for all 3 children: Ruth and David attending a primary school, and David attending a secondary school - can be broken into monthly payments)
You can donate through here through GoFundMe, directly to the family via Xoom (www.xoom.com) or directly to their children's' schools. Contact me if you would like to donate directly to the family or their schools. If you do not wish to provide direct aid, connecting them with any organizations, resources or charities they may benefit from is also welcomed and appreciated. Receipts from the school and landlord can be provided.
Please consider supporting this kind family, and share this story with anyone that would be interested in helping. You may contact me for more information. The U.S. Dollar goes a long way in Haiti, your smallest donation would be a blessing for them.
Thank you,
T.J.
