Run for Autism!
I've joined the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) team at the Chicago Marathon on October 11, 2015 but to participate in the race I must complete a fundraising requirement. By Oct. 11, I'd like to raise at least $2,000 for OAR.
Your efforts will help OAR fund new research studies and create resources that help families and educators answer everyday questions about living with autism.
The 2012 NIH budget was $30.86 billion. Of this, only $169 million went directly to autism research.
This represents 0.55% of total NIH funding.
3.5 million Americans live with an autism spectrum disorder and its prevalence has increased by 119% since 2000. It affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys. If you or someone you know if affected, please consider donating. Your generous gift can held fund important research and education initiatives.
