JoJo's - Why NOT me?
Donation protected
She was known as JoJo, or JJ, or Josie. Her loving husband Lennart constantly called her Beautiful, Laura and I still to this day call her Mommy...but anyone who ever met her, instantly just called her a friend.
Regrettably, our Mommy, Friend, Wife, Sister, Daughter and above all, Teacher- has been summoned after a 10 year battle with the evil that is Cancer.
"Why NOT me?" is the epitome of what Joanne McGinnis Jungbark stood for.
You see, she never drank, she never smoked, heck- she barely cursed; she went to church, and she constantly helped the needy. By any definition, she was not just a good person, she was a great person.
And what would a person like that say while fighting for her life essentially through the entire decade of her 50's?
"Why NOT me?"
Every person that knew her story immediately asked, "Why her? This makes no sense! This is not fair!"
Her response was the same every time: Stop that...don't ask those questions of someone who has lead such an overwhelmingly wonderful life like me.
Ask those questions about the KID who has cancer, the children who are hungry, or the babies fighting in the NICU.
I do not know what else to say, except Thank You. Thank you, Mom, for showing us all what it means to not just be good but to be great.
Please, if you can--be like Mom and donate. On Mothers Day this year, we will distribute the funds in her name equally between Children's Cancer Research, Community Outreach, our local Food Bank, and her parish- St. Philomena (These aren't even half of the charities she worked with!). If you would like your funds to go to one of these organizations specifically, please just specify and we will see to it.
Forever Grateful,
-John, Laura, & Lennart
