Jo-Jo's Quest
This GoFundMe campaign was created on behalf of Josiah Peterson, aka Jo-Jo, and his family by people who just can't sit around an not help and knowing that there are others who feel the same way.
Jo-Jo is a well-rounded 10 year old with a great sense of humor. He is an outdoor enthusiast (especially winter silent sports), an avid reader and who was up until a week ago, crushing the 4th grade.
Shockingly to all who know him last week he was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia. It is a white blood cell type of cancer. His mother reports that it is hard to believe that her healthy looking son can be so sick. His Dad says that when he pain is under control he acts like a normal little boy. He has cancer in his neck, collar bone, tonsils, bone marrow and a large tumor in his chest which is making breathing difficult. His course of treatment will last 3.5 years! He recently started chemo resulting in side-effects.
Jo-Jo is keenly aware of his condition. He is also fond of math and the sciences and even under these circumstances finds this hospital stuff interesting. He realizes that the drugs that are used to kill his cancer will also damage his body. He described some of his medicine as more toxic than toxic waste. Being an avid reader, especially a mythology geek, he compares his cancer treatment to Egyptian Mythology....the balance between good and evil.
He is a remarkable young man that has a long fight ahead of him. He is a fighter and is planning on kicking cancer's butt. The good news in all of this is this is one of the more common childhood types of cancer and the treatment is well established. He will be into his teen years fighting this disease.
The funds generated by this campaign will be used for medical and life expense for Josiah and his family. Your generosity is appreciated. We will post updates on his condition.
