My name is Mahad, and I have the privilege of calling Lisa and David my dear friends. Over the past few years, I’ve witnessed their incredible strength, love and resilience in the face of unimaginable challenges. It is with a heavy heart that I share David’s story and reach out to you for support during this difficult time.
In May 2021, David received a life-changing diagnosis: Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.
David made the courageous decision to step away from his role as Section Manager at Ontario Power Generation to focus on his health and the precious moments with his devoted wife, Lisa, and their three children, now aged 5, 11, and 14.
Throughout this battle, David has remained a beacon of inspiration. As an avid cyclist and passionate advocate for cancer research, he completed the Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2023, raising vital funds to support others facing similar battles. His determination and positive spirit have touched many, reminding us all of the power of resilience and community.
After more than 3.5 years of fighting metastatic cancer and exhausting all available treatment options in Canada, David and Lisa made the brave decision to explore new treatments in the USA. Unfortunately, these attempts did not yield the results they had hoped for.
In late August 2024, David received the heartbreaking news that he has less than six months to live. Now in the palliative stage of his journey, David is surrounded by the love and support of his family and friends.
This is where we need your help.
I am reaching out to our community to lift the burden that this unimaginable time brings the Cullen family. Your generous contributions will provide essential support to Lisa and their children as they navigate the challenging road ahead.
The funds raised will be used for:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Financial support for Lisa and the children as they prepare for a world without their beloved David
- Basic living expenses, allowing Lisa to take time away from work to care for her family and provide them with the stability they need during this challenging period
David’s life has been a testament to love, courage and community. Now, it’s our turn to show that same love and compassion to him and his family. Let’s come together to support the Cullens and ensure they know they are not alone in this journey.
