Help Jeff and Kara's Fight for Lainey

Our family is reaching out and asking for help with unforeseen expenses. Jeff and Kara are expecting their second child soon. Sweet little Lainey Marie has been diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.

Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome is a rare congenital heart defect where the left side of the heart doesn’t fully develop. In this condition, the left ventricle (the lower left chamber) is either too small or absent, and the valves on the left side (aortic valve and mitral valve) don’t function properly. Sweet Lainey will have to be taken immediately to Children’s Hospital after her birth, and then will get her first surgery 4-10 days later. Followed by two future surgeries as she gains strength. Lainey’s initial hospital stay will be lengthy.

Lainey’s father, Jeff, is a father to two other children. He is an HVAC technician, runs his own landscaping company, and is a volunteer fireman in the town he lives in. He works so hard to provide, while also balancing spending time with his family. He is also involved in his local church as a deacon. Kara is a loving bonus-mom to Jeff’s first child and bio mom to their 2nd. Kara also works for a mortgage company.

Jeff and Kara, in addition to all they do, are foster parents. They have opened their home to MANY children who have needed varying types of care and loved them dearly while they had them. Their lives have been turned upside down at times to accommodate a new arrival, but they are happy to do it. They love being able to be a haven and a loving home for any kiddo.

Jeff and Kara have always wanted a large home full of love and children. They have fought for that, through hardships getting pregnant, and then also through losing their unborn loves along the way. No two people have ever been more deserving of what their hearts desire and now they are up against this new challenge.
