Joey and Courtney were awakened by their doorbell ringing between 5/5:30 in the morning on March 27th. Joey was mentioning how it smelled like something was cooking as Courtney saw the flames on her door cam. She rushed to her son across the hall and ran through the smoke to the back door. Joey looked for his truck keys and then followed them out as embers were falling on his head and back. Once outside they called 911 as they watched their home and every memory, burn to the ground.
They have two kids, Priscilla and River and they are expecting another boy in July. Priscilla was visiting her dad for spring break so she was not at home. They had a mini/toy Aussie (Preacher) and an Anatolian/Pyrenees (Odin)
We thank God they are all physically okay but sadly their new puppy Preacher did not make it and they think Odin may have gotten scared and run off.
My heart has been so heavy since I talked to Courtney. I hate that I can't take any of that back for anyone. I can't give them their memories back and I can't take their pain away.
I'm creating this fundraiser on behalf of their family because they are a piece of mine. This wasn't just their home. Courtney had an in-home daycare where she cared for and loved my baby while I am working. She's my baby's and so many others' second mom. Joey was an amazing carpenter and spent most of his free time in his garage building things for someone else or something new for Oakhill Playcare. So not only did they lose their home, she lost every piece of her childcare they had worked so hard to create. She has lost her source of income. He's lost thousands of dollars in tools that he worked hard for many years to be able to have.
Please join me in giving what we can to help them through the financial burden they are about to be faced with. You don't have to know them. This could just as easily have been me or you and you don't have to give a lot, every little bit is a blessing.
Most of all, please pray for this family!
