Joe's E-sight!

Donation protected
As most of you know, Joe was diagnosed with a rare disorder called Septo-Optic Dysplasia when he was five months old.  It was beyond devastating.  In addition to cerebral palsy and brain anomalies, Joe would face life as a visually impaired person.  Although Joe is legally blind, he has learned to use the sight he does have in miraculous ways thanks to all the early intervention and love he has received from so many people.

Last year we met with a representative of a Canadian company that developed glasses that will give Joe the ability to see.  E-sight glasses are “electronic glasses that let the legally blind actually see”.  Last year Joe was too young for the large device, but this year the new model fits much better.  When Joe put on the esight glasses he could read tiny print and signs posted in the distance—it was thrilling---he shouted “I can see better!”

With Joe’s impaired vision he is unable to watch television unless he has his face pressed to the screen; he can’t watch our beloved New York Mets; he has trouble seeing and following a movie in a theatre; he is unable to see the bulletin boards at school that are essential to incidental learning and reinforcement.
E-sight glasses will change all of this.

Joe and I are blessed to have the love and support of so many family members and dear friends.  Words could never express the depth of our deep appreciation for all that so many of you have done for us.  We thank you for any support you can offer.
