Jere Gianola's Memorial & More
Donation protected
On October 10th, 2020 Jere Gianola, beloved father, brother, colleague and friend lost his hard fought battle with cholangiocarcinoma.
In 2019 Jere had a liver transplant that we believed was a curative procedure. After a swift recovery, Jere was back in action and his old self. Full of zest for life and adventuring whenever he got the opportunity.
In early 2020 Jere began losing weight and after several months seeking answers and relief from mounting symptoms, it was discovered he had a reoccurrence of cholangiocarcinoma which, at the time of diagnosis had already spread. Cholangiocarcinoma, specifically recurrent is a very aggressive cancer and it was determined that treatment would be focused on prolonging and quality of life. Ever the optimist and full of positivity, Jere made a huge impact on all the doctors, nurses, and medical professionals he encountered. During his first (and only) round of chemo we helped Jere formulate a bucket list, which at the time, seemed mostly possible. Our hope was to fulfill as many bucket list items as possible with his time left which mainly revolved around his love of travel, family and natural wonders.
Unfortunately, the brutality of the cancer took over more quickly than any of us could have hoped or anticipated. Jere did not get to pursue any of his bucket list items, so we, his children intend to fulfill them in his honor.
Jere was one of the most enthusiastic, insightful, and selfless human beings. With an infectious energy he created memorable experiences with those in his personal and professional life with that line often being blurred. There has been a great outpouring of support and well wishes and we wanted to give everyone the opportunity to contribute in whatever way they felt would honor Jere as they remembered him.
The goal of this page is to truly honor Jere's memory and what he meant to you. We understand this is a less conventional way to honor his life, legend, and legacy. For that reason we want you to chose how your donation will be used.
Please leave a comment specifying how you would like your contribution to be used and we will honor your wish.
