The last few months have been a challenge to say the least. In the early morning on April 3, a stranger spotted flame in the front of our house. She drove down our driveway blowing her horn in an attempt to wake us (we were sleeping in the back of the house), but with no luck. She called 911, and thanks to a very fast response from the Newberry town police, an officer was able to break in and wake us up. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the house can be salvaged, but our family of eight—five of us plus two big dogs and a lovebird—still have at least another month of living in a hotel. Without a place to cook, we’ve been forced to eat most meals out, which put a definite strain on our budget.
On May 2, I was diagnosed with Uterine cancer. My oncologist scheduled me for a total hysterectomy to remove my uterus, ovaries, and cervix. That surgery happened on May 17, barely two weeks after the initial diagnosis. We all hoped the surgery would halt any spread, but that was not the case. The tumor had burst through the uterine wall, so now I’m facing a month of chemo, followed by a month of radiation and several more months of chemo. I’m off for six weeks recovering from the surgery; four of those weeks are without pay, and I will need many more days off in the future for chemo and radiation treatments, not to mention the side effects of those appointments.
Just this week the Doctor informed me that I have a very aggressive Stage 3 C2 Sarcoma that will require additional Chemo
On top of everything, the other day our car started running rough and shutting off intermittently. When we took it to the local garage, they found metal shavings in the oil, which apparently is not a good sign. The mechanic said our engine is basically shot. We’re not in a position to replace the car right now, so even when I’m able to return to work, we’re down to one car to get us to two separate jobs and my appointments.
I don’t believe there is a human being out there that likes to ask for help. Truthfully my Highschool classmates talked me into doing Go Fund me. My family and I will be eternally grateful for any support and prayers that can be provided and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
