Jaren's 2nd Heart Fund

Donation protected
Jaren Winings was born with a defective heart condition called Idiopathic Restrictive Cardiomyopathy: a hardening and thickening of the heart ventricles. In 1999, at the age of 8, Jaren received his first heart transplant. The transplant was a success and Jaren has done well for the last 17 years.

Three years ago, Jaren’s heart started showing signs of rejection which has led to life altering ailments, he has had many hospitalizations, IV infusions to control/stabilize his heart from rejection, with this Jaren has many Angiograms and Heart Catheterization. Jaren’s Lymph Nodes in his right leg has been permanently damaged causing his leg to retain fluid and double in size.

At times, the pain is unbearable and due to his heart condition, pain medication is not an option. His leg condition also restricts his mobility and his ability to drive minimal distance.

Now at the age of 25, Jaren has a four year old son, recently married and resides in Litchfield, MN. Unfortunately he is diagnosed again with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy. He is back on the heart transplant list on a 1B status. 1A is the highest level for a transplant. If Jaren doesn’t maintain a minimum weight which is difficult with his Lymph-edema, because Jaren’s heart disease doesn’t allow his heart to pump or relax like a normal heart which causes him to retain extra body fluid, which increases his weight.

He’s given large amount of Lasix medication to reduce the fluids, but this causes other life threatening side effects that could lead to additional damage to his heart and other vital organs. If Jaren doesn’t hits his weight goal, he’ll be put on the 1A transplant list at which time he’ll need to be hospitalized until he receives his new heart (which could take up to a year.)

In summary, in order for Jaren to receive a new heart, he needs to maintain a specific level of health, which requires constant appointments at Minnesota Heart Clinic at Minneapolis. All in which Jaren’s father Brad and Jaren’s mother Kayla is needed for transportation and medical support.

The Winings family is asking for financial support to help defray pre and post heart transplant expenses. Please keep him in your prayers, Thank You and God Bless.
