Hello my name is Jake. Im 32 from Ontario and over the past couple years ive lost 300+ lbs.

All of my life ive been " bigger" but it finally came to a point where my doctors told me if i didnt do something about it i would most likely not see the age of 50. And at the time a young 28 year old man with a wife and young daughter, i knew i had one chance to change my life forever. At my heaviest I weighed in a astronomical 530 lbs. I was type 2 diabetic, and even though I tried the fad diets and workouts nothing stuck.

After years of medical testing and waiting i was finally approved to have a gastric bypass. I needed to have a liquid only diet for 8 weeks which was absolute torture but i knew if I could do this, I could do anything.

I underwent surgery April 17 2023 for a gastric bypass and it changed my life forever. Since then ive lost over 300 lbs and got the life back that I deserved and wanted. Not just for me but for my wife and my daughter.

That being said with it comes alot of downsides. One being an excessive amount of loose skin. I told myself in the beginning id rather have the loose skin and be alive then not. I said it wouldn't bother me and that I saw it as a reminder of my hard work and effort. Well all that was true .. to an extent.

To be honest the amount of loose skin I have on my torso and stomach and legs is my biggest insecurity. Ive never had an issue taking off my shirt in public before surgery but now I cant bring myself go do it. I pull at the skin and hate the way I look in the mirror. Its always there and its beginning to become a hyperfixation on something I am disgusted by.

Ive looked into getting it removed but with that comes cost. Its extremely expensive to get the skin removed because its not covered fully under canadian OHIP insurance because its " cosmetic" and not medically needed. To that I say my mental health being effected is sufficient enough but the laws state other wise.

The money collected here will go directly to funding my surgery to start the removal process. Anything helps. The smallest amount will make the biggest difference. Even a share of this will be helping immensely. Ill be updating regularly.
