In the early 2000's, Jade needed a series of invasive surgeries in order to correct a hereditary condition (chiari malformation) affecting her spine and mobility. The surgery fused her skull through her 4th vertebrate, causing her condition to stabilize enough to go through daily life, though with limited mobility, which she had expected to coexist with for her lifetime.
Unfortunately, her condition worsened in 2016 when she was rear-ended. Subsequent x-rays revealed that one of the rods which was stabilizing her spine had broken. Soon afterward, on the day after the 2016 election, she was hit head-on by a drunk driver while parked, worsening her previous injury and spinal mobility.
In 2017, Jade was sadly injured further when her car hydroplaned into a brick mailbox and was totaled. The left side of her body took a heavy impact - she suffered internal hemorrhaging and she has since then suffered from chronic pain, TMJ, and mobility difficulties. Her quality of life has significantly worsened over these last few years, as recent follow-up imaging has revealed that her previously broken rod was pushed out of alignment, and it has become next to impossible to support herself or to lead the normal and active life that she wishes. She won't be able to remain mobile for much longer without medical intervention.
Despite her pain and mobility difficulties, Jade continues to contribute to her community and keep a positive spirit. She is a talented artist, musician, and animal lover, and all around beautiful human. She doesn't often ask others for help, which is why her friends are standing up on her behalf and asking the community to lend a hand to a wonderful woman who needs some extra support today.
Her surgeon in New York has confirmed that her fusion surgery needs to be revised in order to give her a chance at recovery and improve her quality of life. The projected accumulative costs of surgery, travel expenses and extensive long-term aftercare are out of the realm of feasibility for what Jade can afford herself.
