My name is Todd Morgan, and I teach at Burton High School.

Over the last 16 years I have worked with countless students whose families are struggling to make ends meet and often go without food for days at a time. To help provide an ongoing solution to this issue of food insecurity in our community, I would like to create a place for students to get food for themselves and their families.

In the fall of 2019 I started the first GoFundMe drive to create and build out Burton's Food Pantry. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, from my own friends and family to former Burton students, faculty and graduates we more than doubled our original goal of $1000. We stocked the pantry and built awareness among the community to the point where we had regulars starting to show up to get food twice a week.

Then Covid hit, and the food in our pantry sat untouched and unused until Wellness was able, despite quarantine, distribute most of it to people in our community.

In cooperation with Burton High School's Wellness Center and PACE program, I am restarting the Burton food pantry to benefit Burton students and families who find themselves in need. We just need money to refill my closet with food for our Burton family.

The food pantry will exist in my classroom and be stocked as part of a coordinated effort between the Wellness Center, PACE, the SF Food Bank, Burton's faculty and staff, and the food I will purchase with the proceeds of this GoFundMe campaign.

Every cent from this campaign will be used to purchase shelf stable food to stock the pantry.

GOALS:

BY APRIL: To build up enough food stock to begin opening the food pantry twice a week for students to come in and fill a shopping bag full of canned and other non-perishable goods.

BY JUNE: To have built sufficient awareness of the food pantry among Burton's stakeholders to have students and families visiting regularly to take advantage of it, and to have a reliable amount of stock coming in on a weekly basis to serve those students and families.

BY AUGUST: To hand off fundraising and restocking responsibility to Wellness and PACE while also doing my share to continue stocking the pantry. If necessary I will run additional GoFundMe campaigns to keep the pantry running.

Your donation will provide an immeasurable service to the students and families who use our food pantry. Having a convenient food provider without any strings attached will allow members of our community a safe and dignified way to nourish their families.
