Irene’s Moving & Education Fund

Hey y’all! As many of you know, I will be moving to Dallas, TX this summer to start the MFA Acting program at Southern Methodist University. I am absolutely elated to start this three-year adventure in a brand new part of the country for me. With this second Master’s degree, I will be equipped to teach at the university level, which has been my goal for some time; it is how I see myself financially supporting a child someday. While in school, I will be digging into the craft of acting and will grow so much as a human and artist.

Although tuition is free and we are provided an annual stipend to teach (which I am very thankful for), I am currently facing cross-country moving expenses; including a security deposit, first months rent, airfare & travel costs, and buying a bed and basic furniture down there. I would very much like to avoid taking out student loans if possible as I am already in a substantial amount of debt from my previous degrees (BFA in Acting, M.S.Ed in Educational Theatre).

I will be out of work for a bit while transitioning from NYC to Dallas as the job I had lined up just closed due to bankruptcy. I will find something, but classes will be full-time, often with rehearsals at night, so there will be limited time for part-time work. This fund will also assist me with monthly bills and rent while I get on my feet!
