In Memory of Johnny Demease III

On the late evening of August 12, 2018, my cousin Shelly Perrault-Melancon received a call that every mother dreads. That night Shelly lost her only child, Johnny Ray Demease, III. He was 21 years old. He was a new parent to his only child Jayce Demease. 

Shelly was invited to the Trayvon Martin mom's Circle of Mother's Conference (https://www.circleofmothers.org/) this year. Every sponsor was being asked to donate $3,000 to support two moms that have lost their kids to gun violence. Well, long story short, Shelly's sponsor is having trouble raising the funds for Shelly to attend.  I'm asking you to help me become Shelly's sponsor. These funds will help Shelly attend the 6th Annual Circle of Mother's Conference hosted by the Trayvon Martin Foundation in Miami, Florida from May 3-5, 2019.

The purpose of the Circle of Mothers is to bring together mothers who have lost children or family members to senseless gun violence for the purpose of healing, empowerment, and fellowship towards the larger aim of community building.

We have two weeks to raise the money to sponsor Shelly and send her to Miami where we hope she can begin her healing process. Shelly is very dear to me. Shelly has stood by me as I dealt with my son as a troubled teen and young adult. She continues to encourage me to never give up on my child. Now that God has taken her child home, this is the least I could do for her.
