In Memory & Love for Tommy Thompson

It is with deep sadness that I inform my dear friends, family and community of the tragic death by suicide of my son, Hilton Head Island HS Senior Tommy Thompson on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. His funeral is at 11 AM Saturday, November 18th at Holy Family Catholic Church on Pope Ave. Immediately following, there will be a reception at Skull Creek Boathouse, Sunset Pavilion 12:30-3PM. This loss is raising many emotions, concerns, and questions for our family – including his devoted brother Teddy (HHIHS ’23), dear cousins Cece Hill (HHIHS ’22), Parker Hill (HHIHS ’24), Sarah Hill (HHIHS ’26), beloved teachers, and especially the students of Hilton Head Island High School.
It is our desire that all are aware of this extremely difficult tragedy to foster an atmosphere of discussion of feelings to help with the healing of this shock and grief. Tommy’s fellow students, peers, friends and families need to know it is ok to cry, to need space, to express feelings including sadness, anger, guilt and disbelief. It is ok to not be ok.
