Sameera Ghawi went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 7th, 2021 at 6:01pm after a sudden and unexpected medical emergency. She is survived by her husband Tony and daughters Jacqueline Roberts and Jessica Ghawi. Estimates of the costs of her medical expenses are in the range of $85,000, but we are waiting to receive the final bill. We ask for your spiritual, emotional, and financial support in this time of need.
On Monday March 1, 2021 at 4:30am mom woke up with bad headaches. She was rushed to the hospital. Homestead Hospital diagnosed it as a brain aneurysm but they weren't properly equipped or staffed to handle her treatment. She was complaining of lots of pain and the doctor's put her into a medically-induced coma.
She was then taken by ambulance to Baptist Hospital where she underwent surgery to release the pressure and attempt to stop the bleeding. They cauterized the vessel that burst but they discovered a second aneurysm during the surgery, and that the second aneurysm led her to have a stroke. Due to the amount of blood in the brain from both arteries rupturing mom suffered severe brain damage. The doctors described the damage as catastrophic.
Mom remained in a coma the entire time. On Sunday March 7th, she was declared to have minimal brain activity. The doctors removed ventilator and she passed on her own at 6:01pm.
Sameera Ghawi leaves a legacy of love, fierce commitment, faithfulness, gentleness, selflessness, and wisdom. We are beyond blessed to have the privilege to know her as wife, mother, sister, auntie, and friend. We miss her dearly in ways that words cannot express, yet we are comforted in the knowledge that she is in glory with her Heavenly Father and free from the suffering of this life.
