In Loving Memory of Juana “Gabby” Donston

My name is Victoria Contreras, and Gabby Donston is my mother. At this time, I am asking friends, family and those in the extended community for assistance as I begin preparations for my mothers funeral. Any help will be appreciated for these substantial expenses. This is extremely difficult for me to make and I wish I didn’t have to make this. Money isn’t going to bring my mother back but together, we can make this immense burden a little lighter. No help is too small or too big.
On May 15, 2022 my mom had a severe asthma attack at Costco that caused her heart to stop, thankfully a beautiful soul was able to perform cpr on her and she was able to make it to the hospital alive. While at the hospital she continued to have asthma attacks and strokes that caused her to go into cardiac arrest which resulted in the hospital taking life saving matters and medically inducing her into a coma. Unfortunately, the doctors informed my family and I that she no longer had brain activity and that there wasn’t anything that could be done to further help her. I had to make the tough decision to take my mother, only 44 years young, off the machines and to put her into comfort care where she stayed with us for almost 5 weeks. On August 22, 2022 at 4:30 am, my mom decided it was her time to leave us.
I ,now at the age of 21, have to begin the painful process of saying good bye to my mother and coordinating all her after life accommodations. I must prepare myself for the medical bills that have already begun to pile up quickly and the funeral/burial expenses.
My mother was and has always been a bright, shining light at the end of any one’s dark tunnel. Always caring and helping others, and the life of the party. She was smart, brilliant, charismatic and always connected with everyone. She was everyone’s friend, but most importantly, she is a mother of two, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a cousin. Her beautiful smile, laugh and personality will be missed by many.
