In Loving Memory of Carlos Almanza

Carlos Almanza tested positive for Covid-19 at the beginning of January and began experiencing severe symptoms shortly after. On January 6th, he was admitted to Saint Joseph’s Medical Center with bilateral pneumonia. After over a month in the CICU, fighting day and night, Carlos was called by our Heavenly Father.

Carlos was born in San Luis Potosí, Mexico on November 4th, 1966 to his parents Jesus and Guadalupe Almanza. Though born in Mexico, Carlos grew up in Linden, California where he met his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Kim. Together they traveled, built a beautiful life, got married, and had two children, Haley and Christian. Carlos went on to work in finance. He soon became a strong force in the world of community development. However, Carlos lived and breathed for his family and his legacy will continue to live on through them.

Carlos Almanza was known for being a source of happiness for all who knew him. He was unapologetically silly and fearless. Truly one of a kind. Shortly after the announcement of his passing, it became so clear just how big of a pillar he was and will always be in the Stockton community. More importantly, he was and will always be the pillar of our family. The loss of Carlos brought a newfound pain and heartache to all who know and love him. Although, we do find comfort in knowing he was greeted with a Sierra Nevada in a cold Green Bay Packer’s beer mug by his father Jesus and brother Johnny.

We have been blessed with such incredible family and friends to help us through this tragic time. We are also very grateful for David’s Pizza on Hammer Lane. They have graciously offered to host a fundraiser on Wednesday, February 24th in honor of my dad Carlos and to help alleviate financial stress on our family. This has brought to light several people who have expressed their wish to help support our family.

Being my father’s daughter, I want to do everything in my power to protect my family and ensure comfort. On top of the unworldly pain and heartache we are enduring, my mom Kim will also be left with potential medical bills, service costs, and a household income cut in half. So, with other financial issues and emergencies sure to arise, I would like to put together a reserve for her.

I would also like to ask that you continue to pray for our entire family. And please continue to share stories with us that you may have of our [beautiful, loud, strong, crazy] father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, Carlos Guerrero Almanza.

Thank you so very much.

-Haley
