In honor of Cooper James Stewart
Donation protected
Our son, Cooper James Stewart, was born approximately 16 weeks prematurely on March 17, 2018. From his first moment he began the most difficult fight. Coop stood his ground and fought back when he was asked to endure medical necessities. He was courageous when he was transferred to another hospital, Children's Hospital of Orange County, that could stand in his corner for this fight. He waited for Mama to be released from the hospital to join him. Cooper passed peacefully in the arms of Mama and Dad on March 21, 2018. We are grateful for the amount of time Cooper fought for to spend time with us. On behalf of Cooper, I wanted to thank the great staff of the Small Baby Unit at CHOC. Those are special people who work in the SBU and I truly don’t know how they do it. With their care, Cooper was able to meet his extended family for 3 hours and listen to stories. Thank you to our friends and family that I surely don’t deserve. We will never be the same. To Cooper, thank you for fighting so valiantly and we love you so very much.
The following is a song that truly reflects Cooper's tenacity:
I wanna find what others rarely find
Conscious clean and peace of mind
A life like a book I’m proud to sign
Written on hearts I leave behind
I wanna roll on a road of my own design
Where fear and faith are intertwined
Hoping that the finish line is in
the hearts I leave behind
I wanna leave a mark, the permanent kind
That I was here, that don’t fade with time
A sacred place that’s only mine
In the hearts of those I leave behind
If God lets me choose where I go when I die
They’d lay my head down where love resides
Then I’ll never have to say goodbye
I’ll live in the hearts I leave behind
