Follow Up: Cancer Pimp Movie

WHY I NEED YOU

My first film Cancer Pimp --which I wrote and directed--is complete and heading to its first film festival (San Diego Black Film Festival) in January, 2015, with more festivals to follow.  



While we have a great finished product, I need to raise additional funds to have it exhibition ready.

Here is why I need additional money:

1.) Music Licensing
2.) Final Sound Mix
3.) Promotional Trailer
4.) Promotional Posters
5.) Press kits
6.) Travel costs to festivals

Without the above items it will be impossible to have our film shown at the upcoming festivals.



Cancer Pimp is a short film that explores the underage sex trade in Oakland through the experiences of a young street pimp recently diagnosed with cancer.  

The film further examines the complexities of the human condition by forcing the audience to consider issues of mortality, spirituality and victimization.     



In exchange for your support I would love to take you all on this journey with me.  Therefore I am offering the following incentives:

ALL CONTRIBUTIONS ($10, $25…) are welcome and will receive a special thank you and shout out on the Cancer Pimp social media sites (Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc)

$100 and up – Digital download of the final film + special shout out + a finger-locking high-five when I see you in the street;

$500 and up – Associate Producer Credit + Invitation to private Cast/ Crew screening in January (Los Angeles) + signed DVD copy of film + a side-hug and/or fist bump when I see you in the street;

$1,000 and up – Executive Producer Credit + Invitation to private Cast/ Crew screening in January (Los Angeles) + signed DVD copy of film + The Keys to the Universe.

ABOUT ME

I am a writer/ director from Oakland, CA.  After practicing law for several years, I turned my passion for writing into narrative storytelling: First with my novel, Little Girls; and now, with my first short film, Cancer Pimp, which I wrote and directed in September, 2014.

As a writer I seek to tell honest stories that explore the varied nuances of humanity and the sometimes complicated connections we have with each other.

In addition to sending Cancer Pimp to the festivals, I am currently working on producing my first feature length film, Little Girls.
