Our family would like to invite friends and family to be part of a memorial project in honor of Steven R. Giles. We plan to dedicate a memorial bench in Redondo Beach that friends, family, and the community can enjoy.

By placing a memorial bench in Redondo Beach, we hope to honor Steven’s life and legacy in the place he loved most. This bench will serve as a quiet spot to sit, reflect, watch the ocean, and appreciate the beauty he never took for granted. It will also ensure that his name is remembered as a contributing community member of Redondo Beach, as well as a beloved father, devoted husband, and loyal friend.

Steven wasn’t just someone who lived in Redondo Beach; he belonged to it. One of his favorite things to do was walk along the Esplanade, through the neighborhood, down to the pier and back home again. On those walks, he always carried dog treats in his pocket, making sure every neighborhood pup he passed felt just as welcome as he did. He loved visiting the Riviera Farmers Market, supporting local restaurants, and soaking in the everyday beauty of the place he called home.

Steven never missed a sunset. He appreciated every opportunity to view the sun setting behind the ocean- documenting thousands of them in photos—always hoping to catch the lucky green flash. He often shared how fortunate he felt to witness both the sunrise and sunset each day, and he never failed to express gratitude for that gift.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating Steven’s life, his love for this city, and the countless ways he made others feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. Every contribution—no matter the size—means so much to our family.
