Our Matthew has left us. He passed away on Monday, May 11 at 9:30am PT, after a brief hospital stay. In the hours after his passing, he was surrounded by friends. To the end, and in the hours and days since, Matthew's natural way of causing people to come together remains vibrant. It has been a source of comfort and awe to see how many lives have been positively impacted by Matthew's friendship and playful spirit. He touched so many of us, and brought creativity, connection and community everywhere he went.
Matthew devoted his entire professional life in service to his communities of care, and this was generally mirrored in his personal life as well.
We’ve started this GoFundMe page to help family and friends lay Matthew to rest and celebrate his life. The most significant financial pieces of the puzzle are below, and funds raised will go directly to his afterlife care and to legacy care if there is abundance. Assistance from anyone from this multifaceted Matthew community, in ways great or small, are deeply meaningful. Please remember that everything helps, truly.
PLEASE NOTE: Matthew's family have been notified and have authorized and encouraged this announcement. We hope you'll help by now sharing this post through your networks.
— There will be a California Celebration of Life. (The date and details for the Celebration have not yet been determined and will be communicated on this page and through a number of other avenues once it's been set.)
— Assisting Matthew's family with a family memorial in Tennessee including (if possible) their personal cost to participate.
Once again, many thanks!
