Honor Daryk: Support His Gravestone

I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of my stepfather, Daryk, who left us far too soon last summer. Daryk was not just a stepfather; he was a remarkable man who dedicated his life to providing for his family.

For 35 years, he worked tirelessly at SMUD, embodying the true essence of sacrifice and love. He was our rock, our provider, and our guiding light.

Unfortunately, when Daryk passed away, the emotional and financial toll was overwhelming. My mother and I found ourselves in a difficult situation, scrambling to cover the costs of his burial while grappling with the shock of our loss. In the midst of our grief, we were unable to consider one of the most important ways to honor Daryk’s memory: a gravestone to mark his resting place next to his beloved parents.

Recently, my mother visited Daryk’s grave and was struck by the absence of a gravestone. It was a painful reminder that, in our struggle to make ends meet, we had overlooked this vital tribute to a man who meant so much to us and so many others. Daryk was a pillar of strength in our lives, and it breaks our hearts that his legacy is not visibly recognized.

Since his passing, we have faced significant financial hardships. Once stable, we are now fighting to keep the home Daryk built with his own hands at just 23 years old. This house is more than just a structure; it is a testament to his hard work, love, and dreams for our family. Losing it would mean losing one of the last tangible connections we have to him.
