Home Place Roundabout Artwork 106th & College

Donation protected
The Greater Home Place Neighborhood Association has been working with Weihe Engineering and artist Ryan Feeney of Indy Art Forge to design the artwork in our roundabout at 106th and College. We wanted to put together something that was representative of our area. We are currently meeting with the Mayor, the CPAAC and Home Place Advisory Boards to get everything approved. We have already had several meetings, and things are going well.

Let me tell you about the artwork. The platform is a pentagon, so when you look down on it, the shape is of a house. Each side of the platform, which is 5-6' tall, has a railroad crossing symbol in the center. The railroad represents our part in the Interurban Railroad where we had a train depot stop. There will be five block walls around the base. Each will have a symbol on the front. One will have the Greater Home Place Neighborhood Association logo. The second side will have the military symbol with the Eagle to represent all our military history and those that served in the wars. We have also been a huge support over the years to our military. We have helped establish the Clay Township Military Museum and held many events there.

The other three sides will have the Pleasant Grove Church Steeple, the Carmel-Clay Parks Symbol and a rose to symbolize all businesses that have grown and blossomed in our area. These are all representative of Home Place. If anyone has any other ideas for these symbols, we are open to suggestions.

The top will look like a lantern with a Hawk perched upon it with wings spread. We chose the hawk to represent some of the wildlife in our area. The hawk is symbolic of intelligence, protection, freedom, and leadership. The hawk will have a wingspan of 6'-10'. The base will be made from stainless steel and the hawk made of bronze. Five lights at the base will shine up on the hawk. A light will shine upon each of the five symbols. We would like to place a light in the base as it is made to look like a railroad lantern.

We have raised some money for the artwork but would need to raise another $55,000. If you have any ideas or wish to donate, please let us know. For every $10,000 donated, the Greater Home Place Neighborhood Association will donate $500. Thank you!
