***MOST RECENT UPDATE 5/23/2016***

Just got off the phone with Hugh and he said they are doing really well!

Austin's school set him up with some toys today and lots of clothes. As of right now, they are are doing great on actual clothes for this season due to not having enough space to store them. So if you want to get them clothes, an idea would be to get them gift cards so they can get clothes for other seasons, etc. They are continuing to accept gift cards to be able to use for groceries, household needs, hygienic needs clothes, etc.

Thank you all for your continued support!

Whether it be family, friends, neighbors, co workers, strangers, parents of Austin's friends, Fire Department family, Emergency Response Family's, etc...you guys have no idea how much this means to them. You all are amazing and your generous donations and love you have shown this family has not gone unnoticed.

***UPDATED LIST:***
I dropped the first wave of donations off today. They were so very thankful for everyone's generosity and it was really nice seeing smiles on their faces during such a tragic time! They have requested that as of right now, rather than getting clothes they would rather have gift cards to purchase clothes as they don't have a lot of space where they are staying and recorded a HUGE amount of clothes this evening. Austin still does need jeans if anyone could help with that!
They also are looking for a small
Boom box and headphones for their son and a portable DVD player with Disney movies as that was part of his routine before.

For those of you with furniture donations, please stay in contact as there will be a future need for that.

Thank you!!!!!

Last night, three families were displaced and two townhouses were destroyed in a terribly tragic fire.

One of the families affected by this horrible fire are also members of the fire department. They have a six year old little boy who like his Mom and Dad, lost everything.

The incredibly sweet wife, Carla Arrington Hynes and I spoke this morning. Carla is a nurse and has been there for me during countless rough times and I'll never be able to fully repay her for how she made such a difficult time in my life, a little bit easier.

I know her and her husband are the type of people to help other people out when they can and they very much deserve the same during such a tragic time.

I told her I would love to start collecting donations of whatever we as a community and brotherhood/sisterhood of the fire department can help them out with considering I know a lot of people are asking how to help and they are probably overwhelmed considering what they just went through.

Like I said above, they lost everything.

She said that the only clothes she has in the shirt on her back and I'm sure that probably goes for her husband and son as well.

So, if you'd like to help this incredible family please let me know!

I can meet you to pick up whatever you can help them out with.

Some ideas to help them out could be:
-Gift card to be able to purchase clothes.
-Gift Card to either go out to eat or buy groceries.
(IHOP, Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas Roadhouse, Walmart, Safeway, Target, are some ideas!)
-Gift Cards to be able to buy home furnishings.
-Personal Hygiene necessities.
-Disney & Children movies, small boombox with headphones for Austin since that was once part of his routine to be able to sleep and relax during a rough day.
-Dog & Cat food and supplies.

I know ANY kind of donation, big or small would be greatly appreciated!

PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY.

The Mission of the Community Foundation of Carroll County is to maintain and enhance the quality of life in the community of Carroll County through philanthropic means. The Foundation will receive, invest, and distribute funds for charitable, cultural, and educational purposes for the benefit of the citizens of Carroll County.

Further evaluation is needed to determine precisely the Hynes family needs at the moment. Friends, neighbors, the first responder and firefighter community, and the American Red Cross has been very helpful with many of their immediate needs.

Financial donations for the Hynes family are not being accepted at the Westminster Fire Dept. Our partner, the Community Foundation of Carroll County is handling that for the department - to free-up the department to continue to respond to approximately 6,000 fire and EMS calls a year. .

Please do not drop off any donations at the Westminster Fire Dept. as the department is unable to store or manage any food, furniture, clothing, or housewares. The Hynes family is being helped with donations of food, furniture, clothing, or housewares by other partners in the community.

For those who have asked to also make a donation to the Westminster Volunteer Fire Department, visit our website at http://www.westminstervfd.org/ or make a check payable to the Westminster Fire Engine and Hose Co. #1 and mail it to: 28 John Street, Westminster, MD 21157

Let's show the Hynes family how our community can come together and help each other out!
