As you may know, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) in 2010. This was devastating news. Many of you know of my running adventures. To lose the ability to walk and perform everyday tasks normally is hard to take, but to also lose the ability to run – a way to express my freedom and joy – made the diagnosis doubly hard.
Although some days are better than others, every day is a struggle, and the struggle is getting worse. A struggle to move, a struggle to think sometimes, a struggle to even stay awake because I am unable to sleep at night. But I have come across a potential for hope. A friend’s brother is a doctor for the Regenerative Medical Group, located in San Diego. http://www.stemcell.life/ Dr. Bryn J. Henderson is a board-certified physician whose emphasis is on the use of evidence-based medicine, information systems, and cooperative structures to improve the delivery of healthcare with an emphasis on innovative therapeutics, like adult stem cell.
Dr. Henderson is conducting Stem Cell Therapy on Parkinson’s patients, and has had successful results on hundreds of patients. The Regenerative Medical Group has developed a way of delivering the stem cells to the areas important for Parkinson’s patients. This is not a cure, and yes it is experimental, but it has been shown to regenerate cells.
I have contacted Dr. Henderson and discussed my case with him. After asking many questions, I am confident that this is a step I must try. And this is where you come in. The treatment costs $9,000. Are you willing to help fund me? Any contribution is welcome, whether it’s $5 or $500.
Please know that I am incredibly grateful to you for your contribution. I will be sure to let you know how the treatment goes. To be honest, if I could just walk better and sleep better, that would be a great gift. And if by some miracle I could run again, well, that would just be icing on the cake.
