Most of you already know that my van recently broke down. What I hoped would be a simple fix—a hose and maybe a couple hundred dollars—has turned into something much bigger. It’s now looking like the repair will be over $1,000, and it’s not just the hose at all. On top of that, the underside of the van is badly rusted out.

I’m in a tough spot because I truly need a reliable vehicle to get to and from work and to get Alyssa to school. With our family size, we really need a van or something with third-row seating so all the kids can ride together safely. Right now, with Brian’s car, we aren’t able to transport the whole family to holiday functions or even simple outings. It’s been really hard.

I am not someone who likes to ask for help, but at this point I’m not sure what else to do. Brian has already picked up a second job to help rebuild our savings, and with the holidays coming up, things are even tighter.
