Helping Achieve a Dream: My Journey to PA School

Hi Everyone! I’m Lynnsey Bostrom. A first-generation college student working to end the cycle of poverty and adverse circumstances I was raised in, to pursue health for my family and community, while helping inspire others to find purpose and passion despite their circumstances. My dream of pursuing medicine and becoming a Physician Associate is within reach should I be able to raise the funds that get me through the door.

Unfortunately, the system of higher education creates significant barriers for people who do not have the financial means to jump over them, leaving our community without the representation it deserves. We need people in medicine who truly understand the underlying needs of this community because they share that lived experience. I aim to be a healthcare provider who proudly serves their community, knows you are more than a number, and who will take their time to make you feel seen as an individual.

So far I have graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology while raising an inspirational and fiercely independent autistic daughter. I have thousands of hours of patient care experience, community service work, medical shadowing and leadership experience that have made me eligible to challenge the rigorous requirements of PA schools and apply. After spending thousands of dollars already, I am at a financial crossroads unable to continue moving forward without help.

I have received several upcoming interviews considering me for acceptance but now need to cover the extraordinary costs associated with all of the supplemental application fees, testing requirements and submissions, background checks, out-of-state in person interview travel costs, cohort seat deposits and proof that I have the baseline capital needed to take out a loan of the caliber required for medical school tuition. All donated funds will be going directly to covering the costs of these barriers to entry.
