Medical Expenses and Care
Donation protected
My name is Jean Madden and Maureen Bernard is my oldest and dearest friend. We have been BFF's since kindergarten, 65 plus years. Maureen is one of the most caring individuals I have ever known. No matter what is going on in Maureen's life, she is always the first person to help someone else. Now it is Maureen who needs some help!
Maureen and her husband Tom were involved in a horrific accident when their car hit a moose while vacationing in NH. While Tom received a brain injury which required surgery; He has recovered and is doing well. Maureen on the other hand had multiple brain bleeds and multiple fractures of the face , neck and ribs.
Maureen was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Level 1 trauma center where she was placed in a medically induced coma . She was intubated and on a ventilator for 10 days. After three weeks in NH, Maureen was transferred to an acute rehab facility in Ma. She has been in the rehab for three weeks and will remain there for another week or two. She will then go to a skilled nursing facility for an indefinate period until she is well enough to be managed at home.
Her care has been and will be intense and very costly. Tom has health issues of his own, but will be Maureen's primary care giver. This fund has been set up to help with all the expenses incurred so far and those which will be ongoing.
Your donation will make a world of difference! Thanks in advance for your help.
