Help Yannis Prepare & Go to Fargo

Hello.

My name is Yannis Charles. I am a rising Junior at Clover High school. I started wrestling my freshman year of high school after being caught fighting in school multiple times as a middle schooler.  My dad thought that wrestling might help me focus my energy in a way that wouldn't get me in trouble.

I was the first freshman to ever qualify and go to the state championship tournament for Clover high school.
I broke my arm on my journey to states during my freshman year and was out for that entire summer.  I felt terrible. All the work I put in during the season felt like it went to waste. Coming back from a broken arm, I won 2 decent tournaments, The Bear in Gatlinburg, TN, and the Supreme Killer Duals in Indiana.

Some of my achievements include winning second at states, regional wrestler of the year, 1x all American at Iowa nationals, and I went 7-1 at Jr national as a sophomore, and 8-2 at the Virginia Beach national duals. I have been training hard for the last two years to achieve my goals. My family has heavily invested In my wrestling goals and dreams, paying for me to compete, train, and travel to Iowa, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, Alabama, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

In the last year, we have spent close to 300 hours driving to wrestling destinations. All of this has been very costly for my family. Not to mention during covid, I almost lost my mom due to heart complications. Her illness, unfortunately, created further financial stress on the family.  In three weeks, I will be going to Fargo, North Dakota, to attend the most important tournament in a wrestler's high school career. This trip will be very costly. Therefore, I have created this GoFundMe to humbly ask for support to help me on my wrestling journey and eventually, some college prospects. Wrestling has taught me the value of commitment, persistence, determination, teamwork, and so much more.
