Hi everyone,
I was blessed 8 years ago with rescuing Karma a 6 month old pitbull staffie terrier mix. I had her Karma vaccinated, sterilized and microchipped. She’s had repetitive UTI’s since. Which I have tried my best to control. Apparently it’s her anatomy. She’s kind of tucked in (vaginal plastic surgery was suggested) Her and I have managed with medication along the years every couple of months and nothing seems to work for longer than a few months and an infection will come back.
Sometimes she’ll have blood in her specks in her urine on some walks and some days she won’t. I feel terrible leaving her this way. I can no longer afford treatments. As cost of living keeps rising and it’s never been easy for honestly to afford the mediation as it’s often. She’s had all type of medication, so the bacteria has gotten use to the meds. She needs to take stronger medication which caused more money. I do my best to comfort her. She’s extremely affectionate, very strong, hardheaded girl never shows any signs of pain. She has some incontinence due to this. She will leak she will clean herself, I stop her and will take care of her needs by cleaning and or walking. But she usually does not need to urinare when this occurs. I had her urine tested many times cultures and analysis’s, many different meds. Had her X-ray for kidney stones and so on. She would have rods in the urine. The incontinence is what seems to bother her the most.
Karma has been in great condition since having her all these years. We did go through some scares not too long ago, she was suffering from bels palsy (her balance was off and her face droopy). We did a lot of tests and she seems to be fine. Her face is uneven but she is still the cutest. She’s a very loving playful energized girl. My bestest friend for real. She’s acts like a two year old puppy still eager to play and run.
More recently karma developed a bump on her front paw. It has been a few months and the tumour keeps growing. I was naive to think it would stop and no longer grow. It has grown to a big cell looking mass. Karma is very particular with her paws and will not allow her nails to be clipped, drilled or looked at for long. Since having her it is impossible to cut her nails unless under heavy sedation. Thankfully her back paws do their word when she is active. Her front paws do need tending too.
I had the mass tested with a sterile needle the vet punctured and collected the blood. The test if I remember seemed to have come back inconclusive but thought to be cancerous because of the way it was growing. Irregular pattern. Bumpy.
Unfortunately, this mass has gotten much bigger and looks as if it can pop the skin is very thin but the mass is tough to touch. When she plays it gets scratched and on walks the branches and stuff sometimes poke at it. It gotten to a point where she’s developed another little scab from a scratch. I am beyond worried at this point. As some people mentioned if this is infected it could lead to septic shock.
I’m reaching out for guidance and support to help karma enjoy the years she has left to live. She has developed a bit of a limp over the last few days..
I have reached out to my primary vet for a quote and requested her file to look at other clinics to get other quotes.
When provided with an estimate I am hoping someone will be able to help with providing her care that I cannot afford
I will provide all information requested for her to be able to be provided care, if any other questions please reach out.
My hands are tied and wishing for the best.
Thank you to everyone for all guidance and support,
Shannon
