Help Venetia Provide Care for Jim

Hi, I'm Brandon and I am fundraising to help my mother Venetia provide care for my father Jim.

 

In February of 2013, my father was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer. His physician caught it late, and my dad has fought diligently for almost 9 years with many treatments that have prolonged his life.

 

What is remarkable about my father is his determination to educate himself and others about prostate cancer research. He and my mother have engaged wholeheartedly with ZERO: The End of Prostate Cancer, a non-profit that helps patients and their families, as well as promoting prostate cancer research. Below is a picture of my father Jim on the DC Metro in 2020 as we were meeting with members of the US Congress to advocate for prostate cancer research.

 

 

At this point in my father's life, he is weakened due to complications from living with prostate cancer. He has metastases throughout all his bones and has been having trouble keeping food down due to nausea. Neighbors have graciously helped while my mother is at work by sitting with my father, but they are not trained in nursing.

 

My father is in need of nursing care for about 6+ hours a day so he has someone trained to help him turn in bed to avoid bedsores, and to maintain personal cleanliness. The cost of this care is approximately $240/day, which is not something sustainable for my mother to provide.

 

We would be so grateful for help to fund the care my father needs. Please consider blessing the lives of my parents who have given so much of themselves to prostate cancer survivors and their families.
