Help us save 10 month old Golden Retriever Ellie
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mallory Fuller and I am helping raise money for my sweet friends Marcy and Chad and their 10 month old golden retriever Ellie. I met sweet Ellie when she was just 8 weeks old when her parents started bringing her to our dog daycare. She’s been a firecracker since day one. She was always digging in the water bowls, pulling the leashes off the wall, grabbing the broom or mop during cleaning. She has more personality than I have ever seen in a dog and she’s responsible for so much joy over the last 10 months. But this past week things took a hard turn.
Backstory:
Let me start from the beginning. Monday when I got in to work I noticed Ellie wasn’t acting like herself. She had only been at daycare for about 5 minutes and that’s usually when she’s still running circles in the arena. I pulled her from group play and noticed her breathing was very shallow. She was extremely calm and that is not like Ellie at all. After speaking with her mom, we made the decision for me to go on and take her to our local vet. I was fully prepared to be told that I was overreacting and Ellie was fine. However that is not what happened. I was told she was in very very bad shape and she had very little lung capacity and there were masses shown on the scans. They told me there was nothing they could do and that her only hope of survival would be going to Auburn. She wasn’t given very long life expectancy if left untreated and even treated they were unsure if she’d recover. I was devastated and I still had to call Ellie’s mom and tell her. Now, this is where a decision had to be made by her parents and they made the decision to take her to Auburn to do whatever they could to save her life, just as we all would do for our own pups. They wouldn’t give up on her until they did everything possible to save her first.
Fast forward to today. Ellie has been in Auburn Veterinary Hospital since Monday afternoon. She has an abscess on her lungs causing pyothorax. Her parents have already paid $2000 but they need $6000 more to cover her surgery.
Marcy and Chad are two of the sweetest people you will ever meet. Marcy is a science teacher at Enterprise High School and goes above and beyond for her students. They have two small children and this huge expense is so much on them. I cannot imagine having to choose between bills and saving your pet but this is where they are right now and at any moment it could be any of us. Please consider helping them. They didn’t think twice about saving her life and I promised her I’d do whatever I could to help with the financial burden.
Update!!! Wow wow wow I am overwhelmed with emotion as I type this. Ellie’s surgery was successful! I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who donated and saved her life!!! Last Monday she had little to nip hope but thanks to all of you she gets another chance at life!! Ellie will come home from Auburn today with lots of restrictions but will receive all the support from her family and from us at her daycare while we help her recover. The generosity you all have shown has made me believe that good people still exist and cannot say thank you enough.
