We’re Launching Our Microschool for Neurodivergent Students
Community Comics & Games is growing into something even more meaningful for families. Alongside purchasing Village Sanctuary Comics & Games, we’re kicking off Shannon’s Microschool for Neurodivergent Students — a small, supportive learning environment designed for kids with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing differences, and other learning needs.
This microschool will directly integrate:
• Comic books and graphic novels to support literacy and reading confidence
• Games and hands-on play to build focus, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills
• Autism- and sensory-friendly classrooms designed to reduce overwhelm and increase engagement
• Community-based learning inside a real comic and game shop
Your support doesn’t just help us secure a storefront.
It helps us open a school.
A place where struggling readers finally feel successful, where kids with ADHD can move and learn through play, and where autistic and sensory-sensitive kids feel welcomed, understood, and excited to learn again.
Why This Matters
Many local families can’t find accessible, affordable alternatives to traditional schooling.
This Microschool Will Offer
• One-on-one and small-group instruction
• Reading interventions using comics and visual storytelling
• Game-based math and logic practice
• A calm, autism- and sensory-friendly environment
• Flexible scheduling for families who feel lost in the current system
This is the kind of program Oklahoma desperately needs—and we’re ready to build it.
How your donation helps
Your support goes directly toward:
• Securing the building
• Creating a sensory-friendly learning room
• Books, comics, and curriculum tailored for autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and sensory needs
• Tables and storage
• Insurance and initial licensing
• Launch operating costs while we enroll families
Every dollar builds a safer, kinder future for kids who need it most.
And remember, even outside of school programs, at Village Sanctuary Comics & Games, our mission goes far beyond selling comics and hosting game nights.
We are building a true community sanctuary—a place where creativity, belonging, and support come together for everyone who walks through our doors.
We offer free Lego groups, arts and crafts workshops, writers workshops, and sensory-friendly events designed to support all walks of life; atypical people, neurodivergent individuals, and all age groups.
These programs give kids, teens, and adults a safe space to express themselves, build friendships, and feel genuinely welcomed.
Village Sanctuary isn’t just a shop—it’s a haven, a creative hub, and a community center disguised as a comic store. And we are committed to keeping all of our groups and activities 100% free, so that cost is never a barrier for anyone who needs connection or community.
To finalize the purchase and keep the doors open, we must raise $7,000 by December 15th and a total of $15,000 before the New Year. These funds go directly toward the security deposit, and critical first-quarter operating costs so our community can continue to have a safe, welcoming place to learn, play, and grow.
Your support helps us keep the doors open, expand our programs, and continue providing a place where people feel seen, valued, and supported. Every contribution—large or small—makes a real difference in helping us nurture a space built on kindness, creativity, and belonging.
