Hi, everyone. I’m Heather Tredoux. My kind and sweet husband, Naas, is fighting for his life after being diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma two months ago. I also just lost my job, our only source of income, due to pandemic layoffs. We have 3 children, two of whom we are supporting through college. I’ve always been proud, independent and self-sufficient, but at the urging of friends who care deeply, it is with gratitude and humility that I tell you our story and ask for your help.
Naas and I met 25 years ago and fell in love, literally within moments of meeting each other. I was instantly hooked by our amusing and captivating conversations; his love of adventure that matched mine; our mutual desire for a deeper purpose for our lives; his green eyes, and yes, his South African accent! Most of all, I loved how much he seemed to genuinely like me and the kindness that flowed out of him.
One year ago, Naas decided it was time to retire as a pastor after 27 years of ministry and was excited to pursue a job that would allow him to utilize his passion for health, fitness, plant-based eating, teaching, and helping others. However, instead of being hired, the company had massive layoffs due to Covid-19. We felt grateful that I at least still had my job at a non-profit that raises money for children living in poverty.
In August of 2020, Naas finished the Pikes Peak Marathon after running the Pikes Peak Ultra Marathon a month prior. In December of 2020, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma.
Cancer. Surgery. Chemo. Spinal taps. Seeing my athletic, vibrant husband receiving bad news after bad news…it has been difficult, if not impossible, to digest.
Just last week, I lost my job and along with it, we will be losing our insurance. All of it. To be honest, all of the uncertainties are starting to feel overwhelming. We decided to reach out to our community, to you, our global family.
We know that this global pandemic has impacted everyone, so if you can’t help us financially, we understand! Will you share our story or make a comment?
