At The Sacred Woods, our animals are not just residents — they are teachers, healers, and beloved family members. Most of them are seniors and rescues, and this care farm exists to offer them safety, dignity, and lifelong care.
The Sacred Woods is also a place where humans come to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience nervous-system regulation, emotional safety, and belonging through time with animals and nature. We host equine-assisted learning, Reiki and healing circles, school and youth visits, and small group gatherings that support mental health, resilience, and authentic connection. None of this is possible without the wellbeing of the animals who make this work possible.
Right now, a few of them need important veterinary care to stay comfortable and healthy:
• Dolly the horse needs specialized mouth X-rays to diagnose ongoing discomfort and ensure she can eat without pain — $600
• Our older pigs require sedated corrective hoof trims and arthritis medication so they can move comfortably and without stress — $1,200
• Jed, Thunderbolt, and Becker (horses) all need dental care to support their health and wellbeing — $1,200
• Monroe the cat needs bloodwork to help us understand what’s going on and support him properly — $200
Total needed: $3,200
We do everything we can to provide steady, compassionate care for the animals who call this place home. These needs have come up all at once, and the combined cost is more than we can carry alone right now.
If you’re able to contribute, even a small amount, it directly supports the senior and rescue animals who quietly give so much to others. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this fundraiser helps just as much.
Thank you for believing in this work and in the care of both animals and people.
With gratitude,
Kristin & the animals
