Help Tony Garcia with medical and living expenses

Tony is Quietly fighting for his life, and he needs our help.

If you know Tony you know he is quiet, patient and calm. He is a friend to all. He sees the best in people, even when they don't deserve it. He believes there is good in all people, and makes all who know him a better person. In March of 2021 Tony quietly and bravely began fighting a series of complex medical issues. More than once, surgeries and infections have threatened his life and caused him to spend months in the hospital, and rehab facilities. It all began with a "minor" case of diverticulitis and quickly turned into a very aggressive infection (diverticulosis) From the first onset, Tony was fighting an uphill battle. Most people who face diverticlitis, have a flare-up, perhaps require IV fluids and antibiotics, and recover with some life and diet changes, with only distant memories of the pain they endured. Unfortunately, Tony's case ended up requiring multiple surgeries, having some of his colon and intestines removed, and needing an ileostomy, stoma, and wound vac from the fist onset. And that was only round one (his first admission/flare-up)

Since March 2021 Tony has had multiple complications. He has faced each new challenge with positivity and strength. Tony lives alone, in Hawaii. All of his medical issues began while the island was stiff facing significant shutdowns and strict restrictions (from COVID) Even if he wanted to, he could not travel to the mainland for treatments as he has not been medically stable enough to do so. On September 23, 2022 he went in for what should have been his final surgery. He was having an ileostomy and colostomy reversal (reconnecting the small intestines back up to the remainder of the colon, as he was before this nightmare began) Initially, surgery was a success but within 48 hours he turned septic and rapidly went downhill. Tony was placed in a medically induced coma for almost 2 weeks and required an additional 7 surgeries. Doctors have removed the majority of his intestines and colon. He has a feeding tube (hopefully temporary) and has a permanent ileostomy requiring an ostomy bag. His family was called, and all frantically rushed to Hawaii to be by his side. There were days we were not sure if he would make it through the night. Thankfully, Tony continues to FIGHT. It is our hope that he gained strength from our presence. Sadly, we can not all stay there indefinitely. Our mom is currently by his side still, and hopefully he will be truly stable before she has to leave. Currently, Tony is still in the ICU, fighting infections and pneumonia and recovering from all of his surgeries. Tony has been unable to work for quite some time, and will not be able to return for an unknown time.

We are hoping to raise funds to help defray the costs of his extended care, and help with his living expenses. Even though he's not able to be in his home, his rent and utilities still have to be paid while he's away. Every share and any donation, big or small would be greatly appreciated. He has a long road ahead of him...

If you would like to send him a get well card to cheer him up, he has a PO Box that we are checking (and will continue to have checked):
