My name is Maya Walker, and I’m organizing this fundraiser from the United States for my family in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, who are rebuilding their lives after Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm and the strongest their community has ever faced.

The hurricane caused devastating damage across the parish, leaving homes destroyed and families struggling to recover. My grandmother, Vennette Walker, lost most of the roof on her home, which has sheltered generations of our family. It has been temporarily covered with a blue tarp, but she needs a full replacement to make the home safe and livable again.

We’re raising $10,000 USD to help repair and replace the roof so she can have a secure, dry home once more. The funds will go directly toward roofing materials, labor, and basic repairs to restore the house.
