We are fundraising for the Pasesa family, whose patriarch Afa suffered the first of two strokes on May 8th. Once rushed to the hospital, Afa & Holly learned that Afa had suffered an ischemic stroke and he was admitted immediately. One month later, while at a follow-up MRI, he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. The family was told the occurrence of these types of strokes, in this order is rare. As of today, they still don’t know what caused the strokes which means he could have another one at any time. He currently has 2 blood clots in his left brain, 2 holes, and swelling in his brain. He goes to therapy 4 times a week in addition to seeing specialists to try and find out the cause and put a preventative plan in place.

Since the strokes, Afa & his family have been learning to live with some new limitations. Afa has lost vision completely on his right side & has blurred vision in the other eye. His body is still healing so he sleeps a lot & doesn’t get out much unless it’s for doctor’s appointments or therapy. He just had a heart monitor implanted & is waiting until he can be cleared for a defibrillator to be implanted. Life as they knew it, changed in an instant. Afa coached youth football for his son Juniors team as well as assisted with 3 other teams within his organization. He now faces a future where he is unable to enjoy the activities he once loved.

Holly is now the primary care provider for Afa & their two children still living at home, Junior & Kaileigh. Between his medical appointments, kid's sports, everyday life, & returning to work, Holly has her hands full.

This has truly been life-altering. With the uncertainty of his condition, Afa has a long road ahead of him with medical care, potential surgeries, and rehabilitation. Afa has health insurance, but they quickly discovered it does not cover everything. The specialists & therapies he requires are not covered. Any donations will go towards medical & living expenses while they navigate through this and get back on their feet.

The last thing we want them to think about right now is the financial burden of this extremely unfortunate event.
