Greetings!
My name is Taylor Bennett, and I am a senior Political Science major with a minor in Strategic, Legal, and Management Communications at Howard University. Born and raised in New York, I am currently on a pre-law track with aspirations of becoming an attorney. I have always been deeply passionate about social and criminal justice reform — committed to leading a life rooted in advocacy while positively impacting my community. My ultimate goal is to build a career dedicated to promoting accountability, upholding the rule of law, and advancing social equity. Following my graduation from Howard University in May 2026, I plan to attend law school, where I hope to deepen my legal knowledge and work toward increasing legal access and awareness within marginalized communities.
As a first-generation college student, having the opportunity to receive an education from such an illustrious institution has been an incredible journey marked by leadership, service, and personal growth. Throughout my time at Howard, I have held several leadership roles, including Former Executive Assistant and Current Head of Community Service for the NY Unlimited State Club, Juvenile Justice Committee Leader for the Howard University Chapter of the NAACP, Step Coach and Social Media Coordinator for the Harriet Tubman Quadrangle Step Team, and Student Coach/Team Manager for Howard University Track & Field. Additionally, I am a member of organizations such as HU Future Law Scholars, the Black Women Pre-Law Society, and the Young African Leadership Initiative, among others. Beyond campus, I have volunteered extensively within the DC community and actively pursued opportunities that prepare me for a future career in the legal field.
Despite these accomplishments and ambitions, I continue to face significant financial challenges. Between tuition, textbooks, and the cost of living away from home, balancing these expenses has been difficult. While I remain determined not to let financial barriers hinder my education or future in law, the rising costs exceed what my current scholarships and grants are able to cover. Without additional support, I will be unable to register for classes, resulting in a hold on my student account.
That is why I have created this GoFundMe—to humbly ask for your support in helping me continue this journey. Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to achieving my goal of becoming an attorney dedicated to justice and community advocacy. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this page within your network would mean the world to me.
Thank you sincerely for your generosity, encouragement, and belief in my vision. With your support, I can continue pursuing my dream and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
With love,
Taylor Bennett
