Thank you so much for helping my mom, Susan, stay at home safely while she gets treatment for liver cancer.
In November of 2020, my mom, Susan Sheppard, was unexpectedly diagnosed with liver cancer. After meeting with a cutting-edge medical team in Pittsburgh, PA, she is now bravely pursuing her first chapter of treatment at home in Parkersburg, WV.
Many of you may know Susan as the leader of the Haunted Parkersburg Ghost Tours. She created this world-famous walking tour in the mid 90's and has led it herself from day one. You might recognize her as WTAP's resident astrologer, appearing on Daybreak to give live horoscopes the first Friday of the month for many years. She has appeared on the History Channel, SyFy paranormal shows and Canadian series Creepy Canada. Susan is a poet, author, painter, storyteller, astrologer, and psychic.
Luckily, her treatments are being covered by Medicare and she has many loved ones coming by to visit throughout the day. But her illness and its treatments have severely weakened her. Professional care givers are necessary overnight to help make sure she doesn't fall getting in and out of bed, etc. And Medicare will not cover those costs while Susan is actively receiving cancer treatments. That's where you come in!
We have budgeted this Go Fund Me to hopefully cover her overnight care costs for the next three months (each month costs about 4.5k) but will amend as needed. For those of you who contributed to her Meal Train late last year, please know that any monetary donations from that are helping pay for her first month of care.
It's so important to mom and those who love her that she gets to stay at home instead of having to stay isolated in a nursing facility during the pandemic. Whether you can donate or share, I appreciate it more than I can express!
