Our community is facing an unimaginable loss. A devastating fire has forced the immediate closure of our center, displacing the adults we serve and taking away a place that was far more than a building. For our clients, it provided safety, belonging, friendship, dignity, and purpose. For their families and caregivers, it was a trusted source of care and support that enabled them to work, attend appointments, care for themselves, and support other family members—with the peace of mind that their loved ones were safe and well cared for.
Our clients include older adults, adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and individuals who can no longer safely remain home alone during the day. Many rely on our program for structure, relationships, activities, meals, personal care, and social connection.
Overnight, that stability was taken away.
The impact extends far beyond our clients. It reaches the spouses who must now find alternative care, the sons and daughters who are scrambling to rearrange work and family responsibilities, residential providers trying to find affordable solution for the people they support, and the caregivers who have lost the workplace and community they poured their hearts into.
And it impacts our entire community.
Adult day services make it possible for vulnerable adults to remain connected to their communities and, in many cases, continue living in their homes rather than requiring a higher level of care. We are simply not providing a place for people to spend the day. We are helping families remain families, caregivers remain caregivers, and our community to remain connected to some of its most vulnerable members.
We are heartbroken by what has happened, but we are not ready to give up.
Our immediate priority is finding ways to continue serving our clients and their families while we determine what comes next. Rebuilding will take time, resources, and an extraordinary amount of community support.
This is where we humbly ask our community to stand with us.
If our organization, our clients, a family, or the heart of our mission has ever touched your life, we ask you to consider donating to help us recover from this devastating loss and work toward restoring services.
Every contribution matters. A large gift can help us with the significant costs of rebuilding and recovery. A small gift can help provide immediate support as we navigate this crisis. And if you are unable to give financially, sharing our story, connecting us with resources, or simply helping us spread the word is also an incredibly meaningful way to help.
Our clients deserve to have their community show up for them now.
Fire may have taken our building. It cannot take away the community, relationships, dignity, and purpose that define our mission.
We are committed to finding a way forward and we hope our community will walk that road with us.
