My name is Shanice Brown. I am a Jamaican currently living in Chicago, seeking help for my community in South Trelawny after they were devastated by the recent hurricane in Jamaica.
Jamaica was on Tuesday, Oct 28, devastated by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa. While the government is working to help those affected, people in deep rural areas such as South Trelawny (from which I hail) will need special help ASAP as it usually takes much longer to get help to them from the city areas. Any monetary contribution will be of major help. Whatever you can give will be of great help to this small community where more than 80% of the residents are now without a home. This money will mainly be for material for roofing to help temporarily shelter those without a home. This $5,000 goal will not be close to enough, but it is somewhere to start! Thank you in advance for your support! And keep praying for Jamaica's recovery.
