I'm raising funds for Land, Food, and Flourishing for Sister Sophie and Her Children.

Naigaga Sophie runs an orphanage on rented land in Jinja, Uganda, where she cares for more than 20 children. Sister Sophie performs a labor of love born out of the realization, rooted in her own experience as an orphan, that the strength and loving presence of an able caretaker in the life of a vulnerable child is the greatest influence in enabling that child to survive, thrive, and ultimately become a loving force for the flourishing of others. In nurturing children, especially the most vulnerable, Sister Sophie is fostering a future community organized around and by what's best in us -- kindness, compassion, generosity, creativity, peace, productivity, and love.

Sister Sophie provides her children with every essential: she bathes, feeds, tends to, helps educate, and sends her children to school. However, she needs help in providing lasting security through land ownership and food.

Sister Sophie envisions purchasing her own land to house their future orphanage and to farm for food.

She is a skilled gardener and agriculturist, growing millet, cassava, corn, and other crops on a small parcel she currently rents. With $10k, Sister Sophie will have enough to purchase several acres and needed tools to begin her own productive farm that will feed herself and the orphanage and provide sufficient income to build and expand on her mission of love to transform the lives of Uganda's most vulnerable.
