Support for Shawna Shillal-Gavin
Shawna Shillal-Gavin recently suffered a serious medical emergency and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Hospital. After experiencing kidney failure, an extremely high fever, and infection, Shawna was admitted to Intensive Care. Shawna has now been moved to a regular room, but her recovery remains ongoing. Continued hospitalization and supportive care are still needed. Shawna will also need to take time off from work to heal, and this has created a difficult and uncertain time for Shawna and loved ones who are hoping for healing and adequate respite.
As Shawna focuses on recovery, this fundraiser will help cover expenses during time away from work and support ongoing care needs. Any support will help ease some of the financial stress so Shawna can put energy toward getting well. Please consider donating if you are able. Even a small donation is incredibly helpful and deeply appreciated. Shawna is eternally grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers already received. In fact, the outpouring of love from her community on the Umatilla Indian Reservation, tribal communities across the Northwest, and friends in Brookings, North Idaho, California, and beyond has been deeply meaningful. Her support from all her loved ones, tribal and non-tribal, has been the cornerstone of her recovery thus far. Shawna wants to thank her community from the bottom of her timíne and is looking forward to being able to rejoin when well. Imeqis Qeć í yew'yew' huge thank you.
