Help Save Lives: Support Our Rescue Efforts

Hi, my name is Terrie, and I’m a dedicated volunteer with Prairie Pets Rescue. My goal for this campaign is to spread awareness, recruit helping hands, increase adoptions, and raise money. Your spiritual contribution empowers transformative change and inspires others to care for all living beings. Over the past three years, I’ve witnessed the incredible impact we can have on animals in need—rescuing them from difficult situations, rehabilitating them, and giving them a second chance at life in loving homes.
Prairie Pets Rescue, established in 2002, is a volunteer-driven organization based in Lethbridge, Alberta, dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned and unwanted animals. We help dogs and cats from shelters, animal control facilities, owner surrenders, and free-roaming communities—touching the lives of 250–300 animals each year. This number varies based on intake, community needs, and available resources, however one thing remains constant: our mission to help pets and their communities thrive.
Each animal’s journey is unique. Some find their forever homes quickly, while others—especially those with special needs or unique challenges—may stay with us a bit longer. Our average care period is 64 days, a testament to our commitment to giving every animal the time it needs to heal, receive necessary medical treatments, benefit from behavioral training, or simply enjoy a safe space to recover.
Rescues can spend thousands per month just to stay afloat. This is why fundraising, donations, and community support are critical to their survival. The greatest financial burdens usually include:
1. Veterinary Care (Largest Expense)
• Emergency medical treatment for injured or sick animals
• Spay/neuter surgeries to prevent overpopulation
• Vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick treatments
2. Facility & Shelter Costs
• Rent or mortgage payments for shelter space
• Utility bills (electricity, water, heating/cooling)
• Repairs and maintenance (fencing, kennels, plumbing, etc.)
3. Transportation
• Rescuing animals from neglectful situations or overcrowded shelters
• Transporting animals to vet appointments or adoption events
• Gas, vehicle upkeep, insurance
Help us help them by donating and sharing this campaign. Every dollar raised goes right to the Rescue. Together, we can make a difference!
