Help Save Glass Art in Toledo
The Toledo Area Glass Guild (T.A.G.G.) is a non-profit glass guild that was created in 1981. The studio was built in the middle of the Toledo Botanical Gardens with the help of such great glass artists as Nick Labino and Tom McGlaughlin. The guild is the longest running continuous glass guild in the country. During its long history, the Guild has had a strong presence in the community.
T.A.G.G. has teamed up with the UnRuly Arts Organization to provide their artists with disabilities the opportunity to create blown glass works of art. Items such as garden birds, fish, and ornaments are created, with the help of glass artist Randy Kuntz, and are for sale in their gallery.
In addition to its work with the Unruly Arts Organization, the guild also hosts and takes part in many other community events, including:
• Open public viewings of glass art and glass blowing
• Heralding the Holidays—where guests can create their own glass ornaments in the guild oven
• Crosby Arts Festival
• Youth Summer Art Camps
• Private “Create your own glass projects”—for organizations
Unfortunately, the challenges created by the pandemic have resulted in a financial crisis for the guild. The cancellation of art fairs and festivals have resulted in the depletion of members necessary to keep the guild financially solvent.
Our goal for starting this GO FUND ME campaign is to create enough income to keep our furnaces running long enough to find new members for our organization to survive.
Thanks in advance
Randy L. Kuntz
